Food in School
Lunchtime is staggered with Reception children having their lunch at 12:00 and then lunch break until 1:15. The infant classes have lunch at 12:10 and finish their lunch break at 1:15. The junior classes start their lunch at 12:00 and have until 1:30 for their lunch break.
Children may have a school meal or packed lunch on a daily basis.
Under the current government scheme, all children in years R – 2 are entitled to free school meals. Registers are taken daily so children may have as few or as many school meals within a week as they choose. The charge for meals for children in year 3 – 6 is currently £2.30 per day and payment must be made in advance of meals being taken.
Payment is acceptable by cash or cheque with cheques made payable to ‘Cambs County Council’, but the preferred method is by credit/debit card via our online payment system, Agora.
You will be able to check the balance of your child’s account on Agora or by request at the school office. Please check the account regularly to keep the account in credit.
Please see the advice on providing a healthy, balanced packed lunch on the following pages.
Children may purchase a fruit pot to eat at break time, containing a selection of up to 3 different fruits in a small container. They are £0.25 each and can be paid for daily or for the whole week, with payment on the first day of the week. Please do not send in money for the following week(s).
School meal with your child
You may request to have a school meal with your child. Currently meals can only be provided on Thursdays. Please complete a form from the office by the Monday prior to the meal. Payment for an adult meal is currently £3.30 and is payable in advance. On the day of the meal please arrive in school at 12:00, sign in and wait for your child to take you to the service counter. When you have eaten your meal you may leave. The children go out to play as soon as they finish their meal.
