Trips and Visits

At Fenstanton and Hilton Primary School, we value the enrichment that educational trips and visits can provide our children. We aim for all children to experience one class trip or visit each year, and to experience a visitor to their classroom.

Recently, class trips have taken children to the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, Bury Lane Fun Barn (for our seaside learning in EYFS) and to Shepreth Wildlife Park. We have also welcomed visitors to school from Cambridge University's Institute of Astronomy, Hinduism Education Services, Konflux Theatre (for a Flanders Field history workshop) and our local parish church.

Residential Trip - Year 6
In Year 6, children take part in a residential trip to the PGL site at Caythorpe Court. This provides a wonderful opportunity for children to stay away from home, develop independence, increase confidence and build relationships at the start of their final year of primary school.

Caythorpe Court is the perfect adventure setting for primary school groups, large or small, seeking an escape to the country.

Just ten miles north of Grantham, there’s over 65 acres of space for pupils to enjoy, packed full of adventure activities on land and water.

For some high adrenalin action, pupils will love a race around the quad bike track or test their head for heights on the giant swing. Whatever the challenge, the experienced instructors at Caythorpe will help each individual reach further and achieve more.

Click for further details on Caythorpe Court or watch the video below for a sample of what the children get up to during the trip. (Please note, this is a YouTube PGL video. It does not contain our children or the Caythorpe Court site. However, it does accurately replicate a sample of the activities children are able to experience on the residential trip.)
