Y6 WW2 trip to Stibbington
11th February 2019
In Spring 2019, the Year 6 children will be studying World War 2, we have planned a WW2 day for the children on Monday 11 th February 2019. The school trip will be to Stibbington Education Centre just outside Peterborough. This will be a fantastic opportunity to further develop the work we have already done in school, allowing us to fully immerse the children in the topic.
Stibbington can offer us a realistic day for the children, beginning at the Nene Valley railway train station, where the children will begin their day as if they have just got off the evacuee train. They will be given names of actual children who were genuinely evacuated to Stibbington during WW2! You can find more information at http://www.cees.org.uk/stibbington_daycentre.htm
We will leave school after registration in the morning and we aim to return before the end of the school day, traffic allowing, please check the website for an update towards the end of the day and your normal email address for school communication.
All children will need to be in evacuee costume (more details to come closer to the time) and have a pack lunch, snack and water with them for the day. No money is to be brought on the day.
Permission & Payment
Please provide permission/payment by Monday 14th January 19, for your child to attend the trip by selecting the link below. We will not be sending paper copies home as the permission slip is within the google link.

In order for this visit/activity to take place, we ask you to make a contribution of £21.50 using SIMS Agora online. This is solely to cover the cost of insurance and transport by coach and the entrance fee of the children only. We would very much like to give our children the chance to take part in this opportunity but the school has no supplementary funding to subsidise the activity. While a parental contribution is voluntary, in reality we have no alternative source of funding. Parent Questionnaires indicate that there is strong parent support for our Enrichment Programme and wish that it should continue. As no funding exists to subsidise the Programme, activities can only take place if we receive sufficient contributions from parents and carers. If insufficient funds are received, then the activity may be cancelled and any monies already paid refunded. However, if you feel you would welcome some financial help towards the cost of the visit, the school has a small amount of Pupil Premium Funding to support access for all pupils to Educational Enrichment Activities. Please speak to the Head teacher in confidence if you would like help.
We may have room for some parent helpers, if you would be interested in helping, please make a note of this on the permission slip link where requested.
