Y4 trip to Verulamium Museum

12th December 2018
The children are already enjoying this term’s Romans topic. We have begun to study the Roman army and the invasion of Great Britain and we will go on to find out about Boudicca and the Iceni.
To enrich this topic we would like to take the children to the Verulamium Museum in St Albans on Wednesday 12 th December.
Built on the site of one of the largest Roman cities in Britain, Verulamium Museum is filled with ancient treasures and some of the finest mosaics outside of the Mediterranean.
We intend to leave school by coach at approx. 9:15 am, arriving there about 10:15am and leaving at 1:45pm to return to return back to school hopefully by 2:45pm. The children would need a packed lunch and may bring up to £5.00 in a named envelope to buy gifts from their shop. The visit would also include an hour’s educational talk and handling of museum artefacts, which will supplement our History and Geography curriculum.
We appreciate this trip is an expensive one but the museum is highly recommended and we believe it is worth the money for the experience which the children receive. The total cost of £25.00 per pupil will include coach travel to and from St Albans, insurance, entry into the museum and the educational talk.
We are asking for the payment by Monday 29th October. If we do not have sufficient interest to make the trip worthwhile, we will make our cancellation before we incur cancellation charges so that in that instance, all monies would be returned. Please pay as soon as possible – it would be such a shame if we had to cancel.
