In September 2020, Fenstanton Pre-School moved to its new home within Fenstanton & Hilton Primary School. This move has enabled us to benefit from all the space and resources the school offers, as well as strengthening our transition for the children as they move up to reception.
Inside the setting we have areas for messy play, quiet time, role play and structured group activities.
We actively encourage the children to spend as much time as they like in our outside space, allowing them to choose where and how they want to play.
In the garden there is climbing equipment, gravel pits, a construction area, play house for role play, sand pits and various holistic resources including loose parts and a mud kitchen, a firm favourite amongst many of the children.
Between this and our inside areas, all seven areas of the curriculum are covered and are constantly being extended by our continuous provision.
Lunchtimes are spent in the school hall with the reception children, further aiding the transition to primary school life. We also join the reception children for a weekly Forest School session.
The Pre-School has child sized toilets which make it easier for children to manage their own personal hygiene.
Each child has their own named peg and drawer.
We aim to provide the best possible start to our children’s future by offering a safe, secure, stimulating and enabling environment in which our children can feel confident to explore, have fun, and learn through play.
We recognise that children’s learning is holistic and that they are active learners who need space and opportunities to explore, experiment and invent.
We encourage our children to explore their own limitations and to use their senses to explore their environment thus helping to develop healthy bodies and healthy minds.
All children are valued and respected for their own abilities, interests, ideas, thoughts and opinions. We acknowledge the importance of the child’s voice, promoting communication skills in all areas of our setting.
Staff work in partnership with parents to ensure the progress of each unique child is supported.
