Tuesday 9th September

Once we had enjoyed our dinner yesterday evening we went outside to enjoy our ‘Great egg race!’ The great egg race involved our 3 teams taking part in the most ridiculous, hilarious and entertaining races (racing like a monkey, like a baby, old man, lottery winner and many more!) See the evidence below!!

The final egg race challenge was to build a protective device for an egg when dropped off a 37ft tower!

Alas many poor eggs suffered!

After a mostly restful night we woke ready for a morning of exciting activities. The mornings activities included: Quad biking; Giant Swing; Climbing and Sensory Trail.  Many fears were conquered and screams let out! A super morning was had by all despite the rain.

In the afternoon we headed out on a further adrenalin fuelled adventure featuring: Giant Swing; Quad biking; High ropes and Problem solving. The afternoons bikers had a smashing time, literally, they all seemed to crash more than drive! This doesn’t bode well for future driving skills! This evenings activity is set to be the eagerly awaited ‘AMBUSH’.

Tomorrow is set to be another exciting day with Kayaking, High Ropes, Archery and Abseiling.

Check back tomorrow for more!

Monday 8th September

After leaving school we set out on our merry way to Burghley House to visit the Scultpure Garden and the Garden of Surprises.

The Scultpure Garden was developed in 1989 on the site of Capability Brown's lost garden. It has some amazing scultpures which we had great fun naming and investigating. There were plenty of weird, wonderful and inspiring scultpures to be seen in the beautiful (and thankfully dry) surroundings. Here are just a few.

The Garden of Surprises was opened in 2007. It has an interesting mix of water, stone and steam features which suddenly turn on and off. This can lead to some very wet people!!

We arrived at Caythorpe Court at 3.15 to be met by Group Leader (Groupie) named Sabrina or Bina!

The children then settled into their rooms, got a little unpacked and had a tour.

This evening we are planning on a wacky races type activity which should be very interesting.

All in all a wonderful first day. Until tomorrow then!! High ropes, Giant swing, Quad bikes and much more to come.
