Year R

The Reception children walked to Ron’s small holding and shop to buy some plants and bulbs which they put into the school garden. We visited the wooden play park. It was a lovely day we explored the Fen and had a picnic together.

Year 1/2

Year 1/2 studied toys from long ago in the Autumn Term. They had a very exciting and imformative visit from the Peterborough Toy Museum. They played with, studied and compared past and present toys.

Year 3/4

Year 3/4 studied Fenstanton in Autumn term. As part of this study they spent a morning walking around the town observing businesses and doing a traffic study.

In the Summer term the Year 4's spent a very enjoyable day taking part in the School Sports Partnership's Mini - Olympics. They spent the day taking part in 21 different sporting activities including long jump and tug of war. The day was a great success with one of our groups taking the fair play award for teamwork, enthusiasm and encouragement. A real success and something for us to be very proud of. Well Done Year 4's

The Year 3/4's have been studying World War 2 this term and have had the opportunity to visit Duxford for one of it's special Primary School World War 2 days. The children had the chance to see the planes, talk to people in character and experts about the day to day experiences of WW2. They also took part in workshops about Fashion and Make-Up, Toys and WW2 foods. This was a really exciting and educational trip promoting all the learning the children already had.

Year 5/6

Whole School

As have had some wonderful whole school experiences this year which have been really beneficial and worthwhile.

In Autumn Term we had a Writing Week to promote whole school writing. There were lots of different activities run during this week. One of which was inviting a poet into the school to read his poems and inspire the children. The poems were very humourous and interesting, they certainly inspired poetic thinking and talking. We also had an author come in and visit, Pippa Goodhart. To finish the week we had a theatre group come in to show us a production of 'Alice in Wonderland'.

As a whole school we also spent a week in February looking at a part of world history linked to Fenstanton. We studied the voyage of the Mayflower and the foundation of Plymouth Colony. The way into our studying this was to look at a local man named John Howland. He was origionally from Fenstanton and was one of those who made the journey across on the Mayflower to find the new world. As part of this week we had a visit from 'John Howland' who came and answered a lot of our questions.
