Welcome

Welcome to Fenstanton and Hilton School. Our school aims to provide the best possible start for our pupils as they begin their formal education. We believe that pupils need to be safe, secure and confident in order to learn effectively.

We are proud of our school’s achievements and we are proud of our pupils. The way that they behave, support and encourage each other and endeavour to do their best, is why our school is successful. We expect all our pupils to contribute to school life, behave well and to work hard. Pupils are supported by a carefully considered curriculum and good quality teaching delivered by an experienced and dedicated team of staff. Pupils are able to feel appreciated and respected in an ethos where everyone is included and where teamwork and mutual support are encouraged and valued.

We endeavour to create a strong partnership with parents. We recognise that support and encouragement from home, good communication between home and school and high expectations at school all create a firm foundation for pupils to develop their potential. Your role in supporting the school is therefore very important. We ask parents to support our policies and to take an active part in their child’s learning.

We value parental cooperation with pupils wearing our school uniform. A smart and purposeful uniform enables pupils to develop a sense of belonging and commitment to the school community. Homework is given to pupils regularly and parents are encouraged to come into school to talk with staff about pupil achievement and progress.

Home-school record books and regular newsletters help to keep parents up to date. We also have an active PTA that always welcomes new parents. We are pleased if parents wish to help out in class, on visits or other events. We also hold a range of meetings for parents and have special event weeks when parents can be involved. Parents are always welcome to come into school.

I hope that your child will be happy at our school. We look forward to a long lasting and fruitful partnership between home and school.

Yours sincerely

Antonia Drysdale (Head teacher)
