Mission Statement & Aims

Mission Statement

At Fenstanton and Hilton Primary School, our mission is to provide high quality teaching that will underpin the development of every child in the school.

Aims

  • To promote caring, sensible and safe behaviour
  • To teach a well-planned curriculum that meets the needs of each child by promoting their moral, intellectual, social, spiritual, physical and emotional development
  • To achieve high standards of pupil attainment
  • To ensure each child experiences success and self-worth
  • To provide a safe, secure, happy and stimulating environment
  • To ensure that each child, parent, member of staff and governor can make a valuable contribution to the whole school community
  • To encourage and enable parents to be involved in their child’s education and in the life and development of the school
  • To encourage each individual to develop respect for others and for the environment
  • To evaluate the work of the school and continually seek improvement

You will find the children in pleasant and comfortable surroundings. We have times of celebration and fun, but the atmosphere is calm and businesslike. Teaching staff plan a broad curriculum and are assisted with this by hard working support staff.

Children are expected to behave sensibly, to show consideration, work hard and contribute to school life. These expectations are made clear in every class and in a home-school agreement that we ask parents to sign. There is a variety of extra-curricular activities which provide further opportunities for children.

The school is a co-educational, community primary school and caters primarily for children from the villages of Fenstanton and Hilton who are between the ages of four and eleven. They usually transfer to Swavesey Village College for secondary education.

The school is organised into four units each guided by a co-ordinator. This organisation means that staff plan together, ensure that all children within an age band have equal opportunities, that classes are of about equal size, and that children can usually move to a new teacher each year. This results in them being taught by a variety of adults and working with a variety of children.

The staff have a very close working relationship with the excellent pre-schools and nurseries in Fenstanton and Hilton which feed into the school.
