Competitions

One of our aims for PE is to raise the profile of competitive sport within our school and to achieve this we are participating in the competitions organised by the South Cambs School Sports Partnership.

On a very cold afternoon in December we participated in the Y5/6 Girls Football competition at Cottenham Village College.  The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves and demonstrated fantastic teamwork.  Of their four matches they won two, drew one and lost the final one.

On an even colder afternoon in March we participated in the Y5/6 Mixed Tag Rugby Competition at Swavesey Village College.  We entered three teams who were all very successful.

"Although, the conditions were bitterly all the Fenstanton teams played extremely well.  We all had a great time." Jordan, Year 5.

"Lots of teams entered from our community.  We all enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go again."  Imogen, Year 6.

Unfortunately, the light became too poor to complete the competition and the semi final and final matches will now be played on the 22nd April at Swavesey Village College.  Team C, having won all of their matches will play in the semi finals and are in a strong position to progress to the next round of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough County finals.  Good luck Team C!

Last week two teams participated in the Y5/6 Quicksticks Hockey competition at Comberton Village College along with teams from Bourn, Bar Hill, Caldecote, Girton, Hardwick, Harston and Newton, Histon and Over.  Both teams thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, winning some games but losing others.  Team A went through to the knock out stage but unfortunately lost to Girton.

This week three boys teams and two girls teams will compete in the Cambridgeshire Primary Schools Cross Country 4 x 1200m Relay Championships at Longsands Community College, St Neots.
