Kingswood Activity Centre

Thursday 7th April

We've had a brilliant full day at Kingswood. The children have taken part in team challenge and also had a fantastic time doing go-karts.

We left Kingswood centre this afternoon to venture down to West Runton beach. We had a lovely walk down there and were pleased that the sunshine had finally decided to make an appearance. We were very lucky to have a large rocky section to ourselves and the children were able to spread out with their nets and search for crabs, sea snails etc. It was a welcome hour or so of calm and discovery.

We've enjoyed a wide selection of activities during our stay here and are looking forward to our morning of activities tomorrow. The teachers have wangled a session to do the 'leap of faith,' something the children have seen other children do and been keen to try out. We will keep you posted about how we get on.

Wednesday 6th April

We had a fantastic start to the day with our stop at Thetford. The children loved the adventure trail, as you can see from the photographs below. The sun has shone all day. We all enjoyed a picnic lunch before setting off for Kingswood.

When we arrived at Kingswood centre, we were met by our Group Leader 'Matty'. He gave us a tour, played some games with us and showed us to our rooms. Making beds proved quite a challenge for most of the children and the teachers ended up making most of them. One child was trying to fit their duvet inside the pillow case!!

We've already done various activities including den building, circus skills and team building. The children have worked brilliantly together and some of them have shown fantastic initiative, ideas and communcation skills. In the den building, they thought their dens would provide good shelter... until the artificial rain came. Some got very wet!!

They have loved being together and outside so much. There's smiles all round!

We're just hoping that they are worn out well enough to sleep tonight!!

Kingswood 2011 - Dates and Information

We have organised a three day residential educational adventure activity course at the Kingswood Centre at West Runton for the Year 4's from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th April 2011.

Kingswood Centre provides a rewarding educational programme offering many National Curriculum-linked modules combined with exciting outdoor and indoor activities.  We intend doing some fun science and ICT based modules, combined with some outdoor adventurous activities.  We hope to spend some time doing rock-pool studies, using the nearby coast.

We are sure the children will benefit hugely from the experience, both educationally and socially and feel certain that the Discovery Programme which we have chosen this year will prove to be both enjoyable and very worthwhile.  It provides your child with a brand new learning environment that is exciting, challenging and fun.  They will have opportunities to expand their horizons and build their confidence and independence by trying new adventure & educational activities in a safe, secure setting.

We will leave school around 9.30 on Wednesday 6th April.  Children are to assemble in the Hall with their baggage as they arrive.  We will visit Thetford Forest Park on the way.  We will then have a picnic lunch before moving on to West Runton.

On Friday 8th April we will leave West Runton after lunch around 1pm and return to school in time for 3.20.  If there should be a delay, we will telephone school and parents will be informed.  We advise that all children are to be picked up from school, as it is very difficult for them to transport all their kit home on the school bus.
