OUR LEARNING PROJECT TO DEVELOP PUPIL VOICE We have been learning about how to be better learners. Each colour represents a skill. The main idea is that children develop more understanding about their learning and can therefore have more of a ‘say’ in what helps them to be better learners. We want pupils in our school to find learning a joy.
Here are the key areas that we have been working on
WAYS PARENTS CAN HELP
Encourage your child to take responsibility for their learning. Don’t fall into the trap of always organising everything – especially homework, PE kit etc. Support them with developing self reliance strategies – eg a timetable on the kitchen wall, little tasks around the home. Take an interest in what goes on in school and encourage them to see that we can learn from mistakes and we can learn from success. Spend time reflecting together how they could have done things differently to improve or how they can apply success to different circumstances. Encourage them to try new things.
